Planet Turbine offers a middle step purchase called a “SITE ASSESSMENT”.  In every wind application we sell and install, we conduct a site assessment as part of the project.  Now, you can purchase just a site assessment without any other obligation to a future purchase.

The site assessment includes:

  • Our Site Assessor will conduct a personal visit to your property to meet with you and discuss your project, and help you choose the best location for your wind turbine(s).
  • Planet Turbine will contact your local Zoning Board officials and process paperwork to meet local regulations and compliances.
  • Planet Turbine will file & pay for all of the necessary building permits and work orders.
  • Planet Turbine will check with your local utility about the proposed project and complete questionnaires and filings that they may require.
  • Planet Turbine will file the proper forms for the interconnect agreement with the grid utility. (Generally 20kW units or larger in most areas)
  • Planet Turbine may install wind meters, including the installation of temporary towers, on your property, to determine wind speeds at your location. You’ve heard the saying...Location, location, location.  The Site Assessor may install pole-meters on your site to track wind measurements for 4-8 weeks, in order to determine the most ideal wind location for your wind turbine(s).
  • Planet Turbine will provide an approximate payback spreadsheet for your records, which can be used with your bank or finance company.  If needed, the information we provide you give you a predicted, but not guaranteed, Return on Investment (ROI).
  • Our Site Assessor will contact the Digger’s Hotline so we will know where and how deep to dig safely.
  • The Site Assessor will provide Frequently Asked Questions and Answers for your bank loan officer or finance company, so that there is a complete understanding of how this purchase will benefit you.
  • The Site Assessor will help you to determine the most ideal position for the tower, based on the topography of your site.
  • Our inspection will give you 100% confidence that the job can be completed as we have quoted it, and that there will be no surprises or complications.
  • When there is a Board of Directors, Church Council, School or Village Board, involved in the installation process, it is absolutely imperative that we provide complete information for your project prior to the board meeting.
  • Once you decide to complete the purchase of your full project, your site assessment fee will be deducted from the final contract. The deposit will be applied to your down payment and we will schedule the actual installation date.

It’s easy, because we take away your pain!

Site Assessment pricing structure:

  1. Your site assessment fee is based on a flat rate and the size of the turbine that is being proposed.  Our flat fee is $7,500.00 plus $100.00 per kilowatt proposed.
    1. Example a).   20kw Turbine site assessment fee is $9,500.00
    2. Example b).   70kw Turbine site assessment fee is $14,500.00
    3. Example c).   150kw Turbine site assessment fee is $22,500.00
  2. Any changes to the turbine size, once filings have been 50% completed, will result in additional charges
  3. All site assessments are non-binding on either party to complete the final phase of any project.  Site assessments fees are non-refundable if the project is halted for any reason, whether by you as the customer, local rules, ordinances, or governing bodies; or if we discover that the project would put humans, animals, or property at risk.  In addition, your site assessment fee cannot be used as part of the down payment of your project, should your project fail move ahead within 36 months after the original site assessment contract date.
  4. Once you agree to move ahead with the installation of your turbine by Planet Turbine, your site assessment fee will be applied to the down payment of your project.
  5. Site Assessments are a wonderful way of gathering information and data, and getting paperwork completed with local governing bodies; all without agreeing to the final phase of the project.  Your site assessment contract does not bind you to any future wind turbine work with Planet Turbine.

The next step - It is important that the Site Assessment be scheduled as soon as possible so that the site evaluation can be completed in the most timely manner. Your Sales Representative at Planet Turbine will arrange this for you, based on the availability of our Site Assessor and your schedule.
